Van Moer Logistics developed together with Umicore a “Terminal-in-Terminal” concept on site of the Umicore plant in Hoboken. In this way, 6000 container or 12000 passages are banned from the road and shifted to the waterway.
The terminal on site discharges all import flows coming from inland barges by means of a mobile harbor crane. Once discharged, the containers are distributed, emptied and cleaned on site before they make their way back via the terminal to the port of Antwerp.
For Van Moer Logistics and Umicore this means a strong partnership and as a result we were eleced as finalist for the Supply Chain Award Project of the Year 2015.
