The Blue Gate site is located near the river Scheldt in the southern part of the city of Antwerp and consists of 63 hectares, which in the future can be expanded with another 40 hectares of land.

The logistics zone of the site will be developed first. Van Moer is planning to do this in 2 phases. “The first phase will be smart & simple and will focus on construction and basic transshipment”, says Dennie Lockefeer, CCO at Van Moer Logistics. In the second phase – after the warehouses are ready – the focus will shift towards smart logistics and distribution projects that can be realised on-site, in close collaboration with Montea and City Depot, the other two logistics partners of the consortium.

Close to the Blue Gate site, Van Moer is already operating a terminal at Umicore in Hoboken. “Several customers have asked us to make use of this terminal. We agreed with Umicore however not to open the terminal for 3rd parties. Blue Gate can be the perfect alternative for those companies and their container traffic.”
